5 “to-do’s” in the lead up to looking great for a special event

1.) Drink lots of water

If you have a special event coming up you obviously want to look your best. There are a few simple things you can do to look slimmer and healthy.

Often underestimated: make sure you drink enough water. Depending on your size 2.5- 4l/ day.

2.) Cut carbs

The week or two leading up to your special event you want to cut carbs down to a minimum. Depending on your body type you can either just eat carbs post workout or get all your carbs from veggies only. A day to two days before your event eat 1-2 servings of starchy carbs/ day.

3.) Train at a higher volume

Leading up to a special event you want to increase your overall training volume, focusing more on higher reps and more sets.

This way you will deplete glycogen and this will work together with the decreased carbs to make you look amazing.

4.) Fiber & specific veggies

Make sure you are eating lots of veggies especially green leafy veggies in the lead up to your event. You may also want to supplement with some extra fiber such as a mixture of psyllium husk and slippery elm/ or chia seeds.

The week before your special event eat more asparagus and celery. Dandelion tea is great too; all of these help to draw out the water of your body.

5.) Sleep lots & manage your stress

Sleep and stress management are essential if you want to get the most out of the above tips. Aim for 7-9h of sleep per night and think about what you can do to manage your stress. This may include going for some walks, reading a book, meditating, yoga, taking a bath etc.
