What’s this thing called self-care?

I’ve come to terms with it: Looking after myself is where all the magic happens.

Have you ever noticed that when you put yourself first which means you make yourself a priority before anyone and anything else, things flow a lot easier on a daily basis?!

Do you sometimes feel:

Tired, Reactive, Impatient, Frustrated, Overwhelmed……..?

These feelings usually seem a lot more significant than they actually are if we neglect self-care and put the rest of the world before us.

So why do we do it over and over again?

We put family, friends and work first and as a result we suffer because we have nothing left to give to ourselves.

Transforming our energy tank from empty to full starts with changing our mindset from filling our cup first before filling everyone else’s.

Now why is this hard?

I mean I don’t manage looking after myself properly all the time, but since making a conscious effort, I’ve noticed the change.

A lot of people stop and start with self-care because committing 20min each day is too much time invested and they can’t stick to it.

Cool, that’s fine but what about 5min?

Everyone has 5min, right?

So I don’t care what you do, but do something.

Do something to quiet your mind,

Do something that allows you to check in with your body and emotions,

Do something that increases self- love and self-care !!!

Building a self-care routine is like building an exercise routine: you sometimes do better with it and sometimes not so great. You will fall of the wagon but the question is how quickly can you get yourself back on track?

It all starts with awareness and making a conscious choice!
